In 2001 we introduced our “Cellardoor” concept to indicate limited release wines of exceptional quality. The “Cellardoor” label is unique and obviously relates to special and exclusive wine. The 2004 is the third Chenin Blanc to be released under the “Cellardoor” label. For greater complexity we selected fruit from two of our best Chenin Blanc vineyards. The fruit was picked fully ripe to ensure soft acidity and a rich tropical character with hints of citrus and pineapple. The powerful structure was also designed to cope with extended barrel maturation for eight months. During this time the wine remained “sur lie” and regular “batonage” was performed. The result is a blockbuster Chenin Blanc with great ageing potential.
